Borne from an astonishing and acutely personal sequence of events, Thread of Gold tells the story of vocalist, bass guitarist, co-songwriter and our good friend Rahel Debebe-Dessalegne’s changing relationship with her homeland of Ethiopia after the death of her father.
With the band joining on the trip, subtle references and field recordings can be heard throughout the album, which is itself a beautifully delicate journey, diverse in styles, with jazz, soul, indie and pop influences. Big track for us is the emotional Thread of Gold, if you get a chance to see them live, this track has us in tears.
