Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru was born Yewubdar Gebru in Addis Ababa but has lived much of her life internationally, spending time between Ethiopia, Europe and the Middle East, devoting herself to music and religion. She became a nun in early adulthood and her unique piano compositions fuse the sound of the Coptic Ethiopian Church, traditional Ethiopian music and music from further afield. This is an incredibly beautiful and moving masterpiece.
