When it comes to the saxophone, Getatchew Mekurya delivered it like no one else, creating a sound that was distantly him yet uniquely Ethiopian. His emulation of the Shellela chant using his sax defined his warrior like presence on stage, often wearing traditional warrior garments as he performed.
